I love a band with creative lyrics and catchy tunes- and Man Man has both! If you’re into indie-electro-pop, with a unique funk twist, I think you should check out the show this Sunday at Harlow’s. They had me at circus-esque. But then I watched the Anderson Cooper story about the band and I was sold:
Philly based Man Man seems to have an affinity for duplicate words (or alliterations of sorts), not only in the band name but with the members as well which consist of:
Honus Honus (lead vocals, piano, percussion)
Pow Pow (drums, auxiliary percussion)
Critter Crat (guitar, trumpet, bass, marimba, vocals)
Organ Freeman (synth, organ, accordion, vocals), and
Chang Wang (alto sax, bari sax, vibraphone, melodica, flute, percussion, vocals).
You may notice that there are quite a variety of instruments listed above, but they are known to use an array of miscellaneous items (as stated on Wikipedia) in their music such as: a clavinet, Moog Little Phatty (?), sousaphone, French horn, drum set, euphonium, Fender Jazz Bass, xylophone and various percussive instruments including pots and pans, toy noisemakers, Chinese funeral horns, spoons, smashing plates, and even fireworks.
They’ve got some cool promo stuff available here with creatively designed graphics on funky items from fanny packs to coozies (you’ll see me rockin’ that sweet fanny pack soon enough!). Hope to see you there…
