As people pour into Lincoln Center for fashion week events, Sacramentans venture on and off the grid to do the same. Sacramento Fashion Week is in full swing, and if you missed it last year, you don’t want to make the same mistake again! No matter your age or what aspect of the industry tickles your fancy, there is a fashion week event just for you. Together with the California Film Foundation (CFF), Sacramento Fashion Week (SACFW) held their Fashion on Film event at Beatnik Studios Wednesday evening. The event was much more than the title led on to. The event brought a unique entertaining experience to the people of Sacramento with time to mix and mingle with other locals, a fashion showcase, and a short film.
Appetizers and cocktails made their way around the room to entertain attendees, as well as models walking around in looks from various designers. Additionally, local artisans and boutiques were present slinging goods like Sudz by Studz, E.F.R.T., and U.BE.U. Boutique so you could walk away with a few charming pieces.
To me, the best part of the event was seeing how so many different walks of life in Sacramento came together to produce a great event harnessing the diverse creativity in our city. It’s something that has been happening more and more and it’s a great part in helping Sacramento 2.0 come to fruition.
There are three more amazing nights to take part in for Sacramento Fashion Week. Tonight is the Emerging Designer Showcase and tomorrow and Saturday are the highly anticipated Designer Showcases for Spring/Summer and Fall/Winter. I’m eagerly anticipating what R. Douglas has up his sleeve since he’s recently expanded his tailored looks to suit us ladies. (Being the fashionista that I am, I’m lusting for my own personalized blazer!)
