Make Memories this Memorial Day Weekend!

For many, Memorial Day weekend evokes the start of the summer season—warm days, cool nights, and lots of outdoor fun. On the other hand, Memorial Day itself serves as a day of remembrance for those that have given their lives for our country. Make the Most of the Sacramento Music Festival And Jubilee!

41st Annual Sacramento Music Festival & Jubilee_ Photo courtesy of the Sacramento Convention and Visitors Bureau

Old Sacramento will get in the party spirit with the Sacramento Music Festival and Jubilee. Photo courtesy of the Sacramento Convention and Visitors Bureau.

There are a lot of Sacramento events that I look forward to, but the Sacramento Music Festival and Jubilee is by far my favorite. This Memorial Day weekend (May 23-26) I can’t wait for Old Sacramento to transform into one giant party! I’ve compiled a quick list of do’s and don’ts to help you make the most of your time at the festival.

DO: Get ready to hear great music
This year there will be more than 80 (yeah, you read that right) blues, rock, swing, and jazz bands performing, so plan ahead to make sure you can see all of your favorites. For a full schedule of performances, click here.

DON’T: Forget to eat
I always like to start my day by hopping aboard the Delta King and ordering a Bloody Mary and appetizers to get fueled for the day’s festivities. After cruising around from venue to venue, you can probably find me midday at Ten22, sipping on a cold beer at the restaurant’s beautiful back patio. The Firehouse Lot or Riverfront Refuge are also great places to grab a quick nightcap.

DON’T: Limit yourself to Old Sacramento
Did you know that the festival expands to Downtown Sacramento as well? You can catch even more great live music at the Hyatt Regency and Sheraton Grand hotels. I wouldn’t mind finishing my day off at one of these spots, especially with the amazing room deals they’re offering all weekend long.

DO: Know where you’re going
This festival always draws in a large crowd; make sure to do your parking and transportation research before hand. Here is a great guide and map I will be using to help get me to Old Sac and other venues as safely and conveniently as possible.

DO: Enter our Sac365 TixFix
Share your own Sacramento Music Festival and Jubilee do or don’t on our Facebook page here or in the Blog comment section below for a chance to win two one-day passes!
Contest ends Thursday, May 21 at Noon. (See, sometimes happiness IS free!)

There you have it! Follow these tried and true tips and you’ll enjoy the Sacramento Music Festival and Jubilee as much as I do. For even more details about the event, visit the festival’s Sacramento365 event page here.
